This is the physical version of the western Rajasthan circuit. Where the standard itinerary drives between sights, this one rides, walks and camps between them — including a long camel day out of Osian and a night at a fly camp with no facilities.
You need reasonable fitness and a tolerance for cold nights and simple food. In exchange you spend most of the week out of doors.

Day 1
Arrive Jodhpur
Overnight in Jodhpur
Transfer in, evening walk through the old city, and a briefing on the days ahead.
Day 2
Jodhpur
Overnight in Jodhpur
Mehrangarh early, then the blue lanes on foot — several kilometres of them, which is the best way to understand the city's shape.
Day 3
Osian, and a long ride
Overnight in Osian
North to Osian, the temples, and then three to four hours on camelback out into the dune belt. Camp where we stop.
Day 4
Dune walk and the drive west
Overnight in Jaisalmer
Walking at first light while the sand is firm, breakfast at the camp, then the long jeep run west towards Jaisalmer on desert track rather than highway.
Day 5
Jaisalmer
Overnight in Jaisalmer
The fort and the havelis in the morning; the afternoon free, or a cycle out to Gadisar and the cenotaphs.
Day 6
Deep desert fly camp
Overnight in Jaisalmer
Out past Khuri by jeep and camel to a camp with no facilities at all, cooked for over a fire. The best night of the week.
Day 7
Depart Jaisalmer
Ride back at first light, breakfast, and onward transfer.
