Almost every western Rajasthan itinerary treats Osian as a lunch stop. Giving it a night instead is the single best change you can make to this route: the dunes there are emptier than anything near Jaisalmer, and the contrast between the two makes both read properly.

Mehrangarh at opening, Jaswant Thada, and the afternoon in the blue lanes and the market.
Day 3
North to Osian
Overnight in Osian
An hour up the road. The Sachiya Mata and Mahavira temples, lunch, and a camel ride into the Osian dunes for sunset and a night at a desert camp.
Day 4
Osian to Jaisalmer
Overnight in Jaisalmer
Breakfast on the sand, then west across the Thar. Into Jaisalmer in the late afternoon and up to the fort for the last of the light.
Day 5
Jaisalmer and the Sam dunes
Overnight in Jaisalmer
The fort and havelis in the morning; the Sam dunes in the afternoon for a camel ride, dinner and a night under canvas.
Day 6
Depart Jaisalmer
Breakfast at the camp and onward transfer.
