The Mahavira Jain temple dates to around 783 CE and the Sachiya Mata complex sits on the hill above the town behind a stair of carved arches. Both are working shrines, which makes them considerably more interesting than the restored ones further south — you are visiting during someone's afternoon, not touring a monument.
The dunes are ten minutes beyond. We go up for the temples first, while the light is still hard, and ride out as it softens.
