Osian is what Jaisalmer's dunes were thirty years ago: low sand, few people, and no infrastructure to speak of. For anyone whose Rajasthan route does not stretch to Jaisalmer, this is the desert, and it is an hour from the Mehrangarh gate.
The ride goes out from the edge of the town, past scrub and a well, onto open dune. You will likely have the sand to yourself, which is not a claim anyone can make at Sam.
