This is the old form of the thing. You ride two to three hours out from the road with a handler and a cook, stop where the dune line looks right, and that is the camp: a fire, a cooked dinner, bedrolls and quilts laid on the sand. There is no tent unless you ask for one, and in winter you will not want one.
It asks something of you — there is no bathroom, the night is cold, and you will be stiff in the morning. In exchange you get a night in the Thar with nothing manufactured about it, which the fixed camps, however good, cannot quite give you.
