This runs on relationships rather than infrastructure. We drive west into country where tourism has never arrived, drink tea where we are asked to, and ride out from a village that keeps camels for work rather than for visitors. Nothing is staged because there is no apparatus to stage it with.

It is not comfortable in the way a camp is. Lunch is whatever is cooking, the roads are rough, and plans move when the day moves. Guests who want the Thar rather than a version of it tend to rate this the best day of their Rajasthan trip.
