Day one belongs to the villages west of the city — a household morning, lunch where we are fed, an afternoon with a weaver or a potter — and ends with a ride out to camp on the dunes. Day two starts on the sand and finishes inside Jaisalmer Fort at seven in the morning, when it is still a living town of three thousand people and not yet a monument with crowds in it.

It is the most complete short introduction to the Thar we run, and the one we suggest when someone says they have two days and does not want to waste either.
