Duration

Where
Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary, Mollem
Ideal for
Active travellers; involves a jeep transfer and a short walk

Dudhsagar drops in four tiers through the Western Ghats and the railway viaduct across it is one of the more improbable things in India. The last stretch is a forest jeep track — private cars are not allowed — followed by a short walk to the base.

October and November are best: the monsoon has finished but the flow is still enormous. We start at six to be there before the crowd.

Highlights

  • A 310-metre fall in four tiers
  • The railway viaduct across its face
  • Forest jeep track through the sanctuary
  • Six a.m. start, ahead of the crowd
